Fast and Reliable Internet

Forestburg ISD is meeting today's technology demands while preparing for the demands of the future. Our WiFi network is delivered to us over fiber optic cable from Nortex Communications in Muenster, Tx.

Our robust bandwidth of

1 Gbps, translates to over

5 Mbps per student--

far beyond the recommended

minimum.

The Nortex Communications logo features blue text and a stylized star.

To put this into perspective, the current

FCC Goal for PK-12 Education is:

FISD has 5 Mbps.

Robust Wireless Infrastructure

Fast and reliable internet is important,

but it's only as good as the devices that deliver it.

Forestburg ISD sports 30+ Ubiquiti Unify Pro AC wireless access points. These are multi-radio access points capable of delivering fast Wi-Fi over dual bands (2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz) with speeds up to 1300 Mbps.

With an access point in every

Classroom, Library, Office, Agriculture Barn and the Gym,

there's no where on campus that students are unable to connect!

True 1:1 Solution

FISD uses technology to increase STAAR Scores, support curriculum, and equip our students with the 21st Century skills required by the colleges, universities, and employers of today.

Students in grades 3-12 currently use Chromebooks in the classroom.

Our goal for the 2019-20 school year is to replace all older iPads in Pre-K through 2nd Grade with Hybrid Chromebook/Tablets.

Chromebook and iPad carts are checked out to each teacher which means,

Two black laptops are displayed, one open and one partially folded.

Every Student in Every Class

has access to a device to facilitate

Collaboration, Research, and Creativity.

Promethean ActivBoards and ActivPanels

All classrooms have interactive Promethean ActivBoards or ActivPanels

ActivBoards and ActivPanels allow teachers to demonstrate a learning objective whether text, graphics, or audio/video, and allow students to use ActivPens to interact with educational material.

We are currently in the process of replacing older Promethean ActivBoards with Promethean ActivPanels.

ActivPanels:

  • support two ActivPens being used at once
  • are 4K resolution
  • support multiple inputs for interactivitiy.
